Cracked glass — is that dangerous, does it need replacing right away?
A large crack, or glass that's close to coming loose from its frame, is worth replacing quickly for safety. A small edge crack in glass that's still held firmly in the frame can usually wait, but it's not something to leave indefinitely.
A sliding door sticks — does that always mean a new track?
Most of the time, cleaning the track and replacing worn rollers gets it running smoothly again. A full track replacement only comes up when the track itself is bent or badly corroded.
In a rental, if a door or window fault feels like a safety issue, should I report it right away rather than wait?
